Shipping
Like much of global manufacturing, Cummins faced major supply chain disruption during the Covid-19 pandemic, compounded further when the Ever Given blockage closed the Suez Canal in 2021. With container capacity disrupted across the board, Cummins needed a freight partner who could move quickly with no existing solution in place.
ITD Global stepped in to support Cummins' UK and European facilities on both service and communication, arranging and managing containers from mainland China into the UK and Europe via rail freight — combining block trains and daily departures from 13 terminals across China to keep capacity flowing. Daily reports of live movements were distributed across every Cummins plant, backed by daily Zoom meetings with individual sites to keep the transit running from start to finish.
By securing consistent rail freight capacity from China throughout the disruption, ITD Global ensured Cummins' production lines never stopped for lack of parts. Multiple routes and departure schedules gave Cummins the freight resilience to absorb shocks elsewhere in the global supply chain, daily shipment reports and site-level Zoom calls gave every plant clear, current information on what was moving and when, and transit times and invoicing remained accurate and on schedule throughout 2021 — even as the wider industry struggled with delay and disruption.
“ITD Global transported automotive material from China to Europe by rail during this difficult period in global transportation; they have always ensured continuity of capacity and service. The team always provide accurate and timely transit and invoicing, and have provided excellent service during 2021.”
